Members’ Salon—An Annual Exhibition of Artist Member Works
Hockaday members who are artists, by vocation or by avocation, exhibit one piece of their artwork in the media of their choice, created in the past year.

Journey: A Painter’s Life—Karen Leigh
This glorious exhibit is a retrospective of the delicate and stunning transparent watercolors of Karen Leigh. Choosing subjects and materials that are traditional in nature and in application, Karen is always on the lookout for “accidental magnificence” and finding beauty in unexpected places.

Music to My Eyes—Children’s Art Exhibition
Sounds can express ideas and emotions through the elements of rhythm, melody, harmony, and color. This display of children’s art demonstrates how visual art can express not only sound, but these same concepts.

January 26–February 18, 2017

Ten Days—Kenneth Yarus and Richie Carter
Showcasing a series of onsite oil paintings completed during a ten day artist residency in the Bob Marshall Wilderness Complex in August 2016, Kenneth and Richie display a number of these small works along with several larger studio works inspired by their time in the Wilderness. A short documentary film shows how their time was spent at Granite Cabin in the Great Bear Wilderness.

Flathead on Canvas: Small Town Charm to Countryside Splendor—Jeff Troupe and B. Rex Stewart
These two artists share a love for the outdoors and were drawn to the Flathead for its rugged beauty and endless inspiration. Both Stewart and Troupe paint primarily outdoors and use bold color and brushwork which results in vibrant and energetic work. Their distinct styles nicely complement each other.

Still Life for Landscape Painters with Nicholas Oberling

Cost for 2-session adult workshop: Members $216, Non-members $240
Artists paint from still lifes that are composed of elements that can build on and improve your painting of landscapes. Past masters of landscape painting will be cited throughout the course.
